3 Dead In Oak Park Fire

Oak Park (WWJ)- A house fire early Sunday morning in Oak Park has left three people dead and one hospitalized.

Police say two men, Odier Knott, 35, and Eumpsy Knott, 81, and his wife, Mary, 64, died in the fire which was reported around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Northfield Blvd near Greenfield Road.   A 34-year old is hospitalized in critical condition.   Three children were able to escape.

Varian Nelson of Ferndale was on the scene in tears Sunday morning.  He told WWJ's Beth Fisher his girlfriend lived in the home.

 He says her parents and brother were killed and her sister was injured.

"This is the biggest shock of my live, I've never seen nothing like this in my life," said Nelson. "I wouldn't wish this on nobody."

 Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, but early indications are it started in the kitchen.

Initial indications make them believe it was an accident.
