Study: Gov't Green Jobs Initiative Short Of Goals
DETROIT (WWJ) - A $500 million program designed to train workers for green jobs has not lived up to expectations according to the Labor Department.
The goal was to place 80,000 workers in the field of energy efficiency or renewable energy by 2013.
The study shows that the program is only hitting about 10 percent of its goal to date, with only about 8,000 people finding work in the 'green jobs' field.
Agencies receiving the grant money have expressed concerns that the environmental jobs are not materializing - according to the report.
