Concerns About Ex-Mayor's 'Skype' Appearance At Detroit Library To Promote Book

DETROIT (WWJ) - Kwame Kilpatrick is set to make another appearance in Detroit-- this time at the city's Public Library.

The ex-mayor will appear via Skype, an internet voice and video chat service, to talk about his new book on October 19th.

The event is already causing some controversy -- with some of the library's facebook friends sounding off.

One Facebook contributor had this to say about the Skype appearance: "How much of an appearance fee (using our tax dollars) are you paying them? I might just have to show up to turn in my library card, cut into little pieces," he posts. "If they are receiving any fees, I will never again vote for library millages."

They're saying the library better not be paying for the Kilpatrick appearance, because it would be using their tax dollars.
