NOVI (WWJ) – Unsung heroes … that’s what many caregivers of aging or ill loved ones could be called. But WWJ’s Chrystal Knight has information about a special event designed just for those who make that sacrifice.
The event is called “The Caregiver Expo”, hosted by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. The event features 12 presentations – giving resources for the family caregiver including: stress management, medical care, long-term care and legal issues.
Sallie Justice is with the Area Agency on Aging: “Perhaps caregivers are in need of getting a break themselves, they feel like they can not leave their loved one home alone, so the caregiver expo will give information about services where they can have help in the home.”
“We find that caregivers … just staying connected to the services that are available to them, assist them, has a huge impact on their ability to do their job – to manage their own lives, and to reduce their stress level,” added Justice.
The event takes place Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace (formerly called Rock Financial Showplace) in Novi.
