Food Pantry Opening In Clawson

CLAWSON (WWJ) - A local church is joining forces with the city of Clawson to offer food for struggling families in Clawson.

WWJ Newsradio's Gary Lundy reports that Grace Apostolic Church wants to help ... with a food pantry.

Church spokesperson Lanna Anderson says that the church saw the need in the community.

"We are a community-oriented church, we want to help out anybody in the Clawson community or Royal Oak community or wherever, we want to help them out," stressed Anderson.

Anderson says that folks will typically recieve  a box of groceries: cereal, canned goods, vegetables, pastas ... whatever is available.

"Some of the businesses ... they are going to sponsor and  help to donate food, we have donation tubs all around the city," said Anderson.

Non-perishable food items can be donated at drop boxes throughout the city and also at city hall.

The food bank will be open on Monday, Oct. 17th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and also on Monday, Oct. 24th same hours.

Grace Apostolic Church is on Elmwood, west of Rochester Road, a few blocks north of 14 Mile in Clawson.
