Farmer Jay: Pumpkin Crop The Best In Years

PLYMOUTH (WWJ) - The early reports told us to expect a pumpkin shortage this year due to weather issues out east.  But a local farmer isn't buying it.

Farmer Jay -- Jay S. Richards -- has been growing and selling gourds on his farm for 35-40 years, and this year looks especially promising.

"That's what they say ...yeah, they say that every year ...," said Farmer Jay.

Farmer Jay has been growing and selling gourds on his farm for 35-40 years, and this year looks especially promising.

"It's the best crop I've every had, the cinderellas, the swans and the big pumpkins," said Farmer Jay.

Farmer Jay says families come back to his farm year after year to get their pumpkins.  He says it's the last working farm in Plymouth Township -- on Canton Center Road between Joy and Ann Arbor Road.

Prices range from $3-$5 for the average pumpkin, of course more for the bigger ones.
