DETROIT (WWJ) – Count Kid Rock among those on the Jim Schwartz bandwagon. The singer was hanging out in the locker room after the Lions 24-13 Monday Night Football win over the Bears.
“I like the coach, number one,” Kid Rock told 97.1 The Ticket’s Jeff Riger. “Schwartz came out; we started hanging out and he said, ‘You know what Bobby, I really believe in this city, in this team, which I took city more important than team in my heart.’ And he said, ‘I want my kids … to say they’re from Detroit and they go to school in Detroit and they root for Detroit.’
“And, I was like, wow. Is this guy (expletive) me? You know, is he just looking for a free turkey dinner at Kid Rock’s house? But, he wasn’t.”
Kid Rock also says he’ll be a Detroiter until the day he dies.
“You ever been tempted with all the great places you go to – not turn your back, but maybe go elsewhere to live – L.A., Nashville – live elsewhere,” Riger asked.
(Expletive) no … I’m sorry,” Rock answered laughing. “In one word, no. In two words, (beep) no.”
The Lions are 5-0 for the first time since 1956–the year before they won their last NFL championship.
