Police: Suspect Robbed Video Game Store At Gunpoint

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Investigators in Waterford Township are looking to identify the suspect responsible for an armed robbery at a video game store.

Police say the suspect entered the GameStop store on Summit Drive shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, walked around inside and requested two games for purchase.

When the clerk rang up the sale, the suspect produced a small silver semi-automatic pistol and stated, "be calm and place all the money in the bag". The clerk complied and the suspect said in a calm voice everything would be okay, he was doing the robbery for his kids, and "I need you to do me a favor and not call the police for 5 minutes."

The suspect then asked the clerk to unlock the front door and let him out. He fled south through the parking lot toward Elizabeth Lake Road. The clerk immediately called 911.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'8," wearing a black bandanna or do-rag on his head, black hooded sweatshirt with red "Cincinnati" lettering, blue jeans and white Nike shoes.

Now, police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect. If you recognize him, or have any information on this robbery, please call the Waterford Police Tip Line at 248-674-2677.
