Man Who Led Police On High-Speed Chase Injured In Roll Over

JACKSON (WWJ) - A man and his teenage step-daughter are hospitalized after a rollover accident, following a high-speed chase with police.

Sheriff Steve Rand said officers tried to stop a vehicle observed traveling over 100 mph on Michigan Avenue near Dearing Road just after midnight Friday.

The vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac G6, occupied by two subjects continued at a high rate of speed which resulted in deputies ending the pursuit on Luttenton Road, north of Hanover in Pulaski Township.

Approximately 10 minutes later a roll over accident was called into central dispatch on Hanover Road near Cowan Road in Pulaski Township. Deputies confirmed the vehicle was the suspect vehicle in the pursuit. The vehicle occupants were still trapped in the vehicle and were extracted by police personnel and assisted by the Pulaski Fire Department.

The driver, a 28-year-old male from Jerome, had recently been released to parole on a pervious incident of flee and eluding. The passenger, the driver's 14-year-old step daughter, was the only other occupant.

Both occupants were taken to Allegiance Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation but police say alcohol is known to be a factor.
