Deadly Accident Claims 5 Lives

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – A deadly accident in Southfield claims the lives of five people.

The tragedy unfolded shortly after 4:00 a.m. Sunday on northbound M-10 between Lahser and Telegraph. A car and an SUV collided. A police officer says the driver of the car was going the wrong way on the northbound side of the freeway.

Southfield resident Tyrone Prophet was on his way home from work when he heard what happened. “I heard a loud explosion, and I looked in my rearview,” Prophet told WWJ Newsradio 950. “I could see the fire and the smoke starting to bellow. I pulled over; by the time I got out of the vehicle, the smoke was probably 150 feet in the air and you could see the fire and the flames going through the smoke.”

Police say the driver of the car that was going the wrong way was alone. Four people were in the SUV. All lost their lives in this horrific accident.
