Patterson On Film Incentives: You've Gotta' Live By The Deal You Promised

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The Governor's decision to sign legislation that drastically cut the state's film incentives still isn't sitting well with Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

Speaking at the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, Patterson likened the mid-stream change in the amount of state film incentives to a bait and switch.

"What I'm in favor of -- if you make an offer; if you make a deal, even if it's a bad deal, you've already caused people to put money at risk and create an investment. You've gotta' live by the deal you promised. You just can't change the game, rules in the middle. That's what I'm figuring."

Michigan's film incentives were considered some of the nation's most generous when the program initially went into effect, but the governor decided the incentives should be capped at 25-million dollars.
