Two Boys Die In Off-Road Vehicle Crash

WHEATLAND TWP. (AP) – Authorities say two 13-year-old boys died when the off-road vehicle they were riding rolled on top of them in a mid-Michigan field.

The Mecosta County sheriff’s department says it was called Monday night to private property in Wheatland Township and found the boys from Mount Pleasant unresponsive. The department says CPR was performed but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say they boys were wearing seatbelts but the vehicle’s roll bars had been removed, so they were trapped underneath. The sheriff’s department says one boy’s father and a sibling found them, moved the vehicle off them and called 911.

Names weren’t immediately released. The crash happened about 50 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
