Armed Standoff In Detroit Ends Peacefully

DETROIT (WWJ)- An armed standoff between police and a barricaded gunman inside a home on Cheyenne and Puritan on Detroit's west side ended peacefully Thursday evening.

The standoff began shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon as police attempted to serve the suspect with a warrant.

Detroit Police Inspector Don Johnson says when the suspect saw police, he ran back inside the home with a female acquaintance.

"We basically set up a perimeter at the target location, and tried to negotiate the subject out over the last several hours, in which we were very successful in doing so, getting first the female to come out of the location," said Johnson.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.
