Detroit Ray McCallum Jr. leaned against the scorer’s table at Calihan Hall, his cheeks a rosy red from the chill of a misty afternoon walk from class.

The young, fresh face is the face of the Detroit Mercy basketball program.

He’s quarterback of a team capable of unseating Butler as king of the Horizon League.

But every time he steps on the court, all eyes are on McCallum, and all defenses are geared to stop him. He will face defenders there to make a mark — if they can stop McCallum.
