Chris Harris Will Wear Lions No. 43

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Lions have officially claimed safety Chris Harris off waivers.

The team confirmed the move Saturday night, a day after Harris' agent announced on Twitter that his client was headed to Detroit.

Harris will have the No. 43 jersey on the Lions' roster Sunday at Denver.

The Lions put safety Vincent Fuller on injured reserve Friday, clearing a spot for Harris.

Harris was released by Chicago on Thursday after asking for a trade. He made a career-high five interceptions last season for the Bears, but fell out of favor and was slowed by a pulled hamstring.

The 29-year-old Harris has started 83 games in his career with Chicago and Carolina, has made 15 interceptions and is in the last year of his contract.
