Foxworthy, Engvall & Larry The Cable Guy Bring Laughs To The Palace

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Three of the "four horsemen" from the Blue Collar Comedy tour are coming back to Metro Detroit. Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall are coming to the Palace of Auburn Hills in January as part of their "Them Idiots On Tour." Tickets went on sale Monday.

The show will feature all new material, but Foxworthy explained why Ron White won't be back.

"We talked about bringing it back and Ron said, 'I can't write 30 new minutes of clean material' and I said 'Oh you can, you've done it before' and he's like 'OK, I'm too lazy to write 30 new minutes of clean material,'" Foxworthy said.

Foxworthy, known for his "Redneck" jokes, says he got the idea one night at the now-closed Chaplin's Comedy Club in Clinton Township.

"After the show we were sitting around at the bar and they were kidding me about being a Redneck when the club we were playing in was attached to a bowling alley that had valet parking. And I said, 'Wait, if you don't think you have rednecks in Michigan, look out the window, people are valet parking at the bowling alley."

Foxworthy said his favorite part of the tour is making each other laugh at the end of a show, an idea he got from Carol Burnett.

"I used to love the fact that you could tell they liked each other so much, that their favorite thing was making each other laugh and, you know, as a comic you never laugh, you keep a straight face. So, I think it was fun for the audience to get to see us, kind of let the guard down and, you know, just tell stories and make each other laugh."

Tickets ($59.50) for "Them Idiots On Tour" went on sale Monday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. at Palacenet.com, The Palace Box Office, Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster retail locations.
