Niklas Kronwall Signs 7-Year Extension With Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Niklas Kronwall to a 7-year contract worth an average of $4.75 million annually.

Kronwall is in his 8th season after being chosen in the first round of the 2000 NHL entry draft. The 31-year-old defenseman has scored 35 goals, 148 assists in 394 games with the Wings. Kronwall is known for his gritty game more than scoring, if Kronwall didn’t sign the extension he would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
