GRASS LAKE TWP. (WWJ) – A car fire on Halloween night led Jackson County sheriff’s deputies to a grisly discovery.
Deputies and firefighters were called to the parking lot of a nature preserve, just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, where they found a 2000 Chevy Impala engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, two unidentified bodies were found inside.
In a statement, Jackson County Sheriff Sheriff Steve Rand said it appeared the victims were already dead when the fire started.
There was no immediate word on the age or sex of the victims or if there were any suspects.
Authorities were working Tuesday to identify the two bodies and determine the cause of death.
