'Press Releases 101' Lunch 'n' Learn Workshop Teaches the Basics of Press Release Writing and Sharing: Every day, new tools are developed for businesses and organizations to share information with stakeholders, the community and media. Still, press releases remain one of the simplest and most effective ways to present important news in an organized, easy-to-digest manner. For a tutorial on the basics of good press release writing and tips on maximizing the benefits of this tool, join Automation Alley, Michigan's largest technology business association, for "Press Releases 101" on Nov. 16 from 11:30-1 p.m. at Automation Alley headquarters, 2675 Bellingham in Troy. Speaker Matt Friedman of Tanner Friedman Strategic Communications will discuss the basic elements and construction of a press release how to present information as newsworthy, how to reach media, customers and business partners and why press releases aren't just for the press. Formerly a decision-maker in newsrooms in three states, Friedman has developed communications strategies for companies of all sizes since the 1990s. His extensive client service experience includes media relations management during an airline pilots' strike and communicating the outcome of the largest pharmaceutical industry acquisition in history. He frequently is quoted in regional and national publications as an expert in communications and broadcast news. In addition Friedman's presentation, an Automation Alley representative will give a quick overview of the Automation Alley Press Release System and explain how to use this valuable member benefit. The Press Release System includes the "Daily Press Releases" email, which lists the member press releases posted to the Automation Alley website each day and reaches over 4,400 subscribers. The cost for members is $20 with pre-registration or $30 at the door. The cost for non-members is $40 or $50 at the door. Pre-registration ends Nov. 14 at close of business. There is no cost for Foundation Members to attend this event, but pre-registration is appreciated. For more information or to register, contact the Automation Alley Resource Center at 800-427-5100 or info@automationalley.com.
