80-Year-Old Metro Detroit Man Competes In Bike Race
SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - He's getting up there in age, but he refuses to let it slow him down. A Shelby Township man is about to take the ride of his life as he competes in the biggest single-day race that's held right here in Michigan.
At 80 years old, Antoon Huyghe is a force to be reckoned with.
"There's not that many people riding at my age ... I'm the fastest old man in Michigan. Nobody my age or older has ever beat me," said Huyghe.
Huyghe hasn't just won dozens of races. He also carried the 1996 Olympic torch. On Saturday he'll shift into high gear to compete in the Iceman in Traverse City.
