Grand Blanc And Fenton Will Vote On Recall Of State Rep. Paul Scott

DETROIT (WWJ) - Voters in the Grand Blanc and Fenton areas will vote Tuesday on whether or not to recall State Representative Paul Scott.  A second-term Republican - Scott chairs the House Education Committee.

The Michigan Education Association has put about $140,000 into the recall effort - MEA spokesman Doug Pratt spoke to WWJ's Tim Kiska about the recall effort and why the MEA feels it is not a waste of time and money.

"The anger on the ground in that district, and frankly across the state, about the massive cuts to public education in order to pay for corporate special interest tax break really is driving people to take action," said Pratt.

Rep. Paul Scott.

Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostakis saying that Scott is doing exactly what needs to be done to cut the budget and is doing what voters in the last election asked him to do.

"The status quo in Michigan is not sustainable we have for years sat back and spent our way into big trouble -- with that comes a cost to our children," said Schostak.
