KEM To Star In "Sparkle" Remake

DETROIT (WWJ) - Universal Motown singer/songwriter KEM is set to make his big-screen acting debut in the remake of the popular 1976 film "Sparkle."

KEM will star in the role of 'Buddy,' the club owner and master of ceremonies. "I've always had the idea that I'd like to try my hand at acting one day, and I'm very thankful to have the chance to do that with a classic film such as Sparkle," said KEM. And for him, perhaps the icing on the cake -- so to speak -- is that Sparkle is set in and is being filmed in KEM's hometown of Detroit.

Sparkle also stars American Idol season 6 winner Jordin Sparks in the role of Sparkle, Whitney Houston, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick and Cee-Lo Green.

Sparkle is scheduled to be released in 2012. You can bet when it hits theaters, yours truly will be there!
