Wings 5, Avalanche 2

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A hat-trick by Johan Franzen helped the Red Wings to a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.

As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - Nicklas Lidstrom put in a wrist shot early in the first period, Valtteri Filppula scored on a power play goal and Johan Franzen scored three goals for the Wings on two on power play goals - the third an empty net goal.

Dan Cleary scored off his own rebound against Jean-Sebastien Giguere to essentially seal the win.

Detroit has now won two in a row and scored 10 goals in those wins - after a offensive drought scoring a total of six goals in a six game slide following a 5-0 start.
