Dearborn Police Nab Wrong Person With The Right Name
DEARBORN (WWJ) - Dearborn police have released the head of a popular Arab-American cultural center after mistakenly arresting him and keeping him in jail overnight.
Police believed Ali Hammoud was the man charged in a conspiracy to funnel money to Hezbollah from the sale of stolen and counterfeit goods.
The Ali Hammoud they got instead is president of Bint Jebail Cultural Center in Dearborn. It's been the site of ceremonies for new U.S. citizens and speeches by prominent government officials.
