Lions Hand Victory To Bears 37-13
CHICAGO (WWJ) - Six turnovers and two dropped touchdown passes added to the misery of the Detroit Lions loss to the Chicago Bears 37-13 on Sunday.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Lions (6-3) seemed to do everything they could to lose to the Bears (6-3) including more turnovers (six) than they've had the whole season (five) through eight games. The loss put the Lions in a second place tie with the Bears in the NFC North.
A Calvin Johnson fumble helped the Bears to get on the board first - Johnson had seven carries for 81 yards.
Speaking post game - the Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said that the Bears took the "approach of jamming Calvin all day - and (they) didn't get called on any penalties."
Matthew Stafford set a Lions record for passes - attempting 63 and completing 33 on the day - tossing 4 interceptions. Stafford was involved in a tussle with Chicago's D.J. Moore and Moore was ejected from the game.
"We've been a second half team all year but you're not going to win any game - on the road or at home - with six turnovers," said Schwartz.
Schwartz said that Stafford's performance was more about the "wind and what the Bears were doing" rather than any issue relating to his injured finger.
The Lions found the end zone late in the game as Tony Scheffler took a 10 yard pass from Stafford in the fourth quarter.
Jason Hanson was questionable for play on Sunday but delivered on two field goals in the first half.
"They beat us fair and square ... we gotta take better care of the ball," said Nate Burleson.
