ANN ARBOR — The McCreadie Group, a software company that specializes in healthcare pharmacy and education applications, has selected Online Tech’s independently audited, HIPAA compliant data centers, to host their Software-as-a-Service offerings.
Online Tech’s Michigan data centers were found to be 100 percent compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, helping covered entities and business associates in the healthcare field meet the requirements of HIPAA and the HITECH Act.
By hosting their SaaS applications in Online Tech’s HIPAA audited data centers, Ann Arbor-based McCreadie Group saves valuable resources that would otherwise have to be spent on IT capital, personnel, and data center auditing if they had to manage their own data center.
Online Tech’s HIPAA compliant hosting provides the physical, environmental, network and infrastructure security needed to meet HIPAA compliance standards and prevents organizations, like the McCreadie Group, to avoid costly potential HIPAA violations.
“As our business continued to grow, we became more concerned about our hardware support especially during the weekends,” aid Scott McCreadie, president of the McCreadie Group. “We wanted our technical resources to spend time supporting our SaaS applications and not to spend time supporting our hardware.”
Potential customers were also requiring the McCreadie Group to host their SaaS applications in a SAS 70 certified data center. SAS 70 Type II and SSAE 16 audited data centers have certain administrative, physical and technical safeguards in place to meet all their security, privacy and availability requirements.
As the first Michigan data center operator to successfully pass both independent SSAE 16 Type II and HIPAA audits, Online Tech helps SaaS providers achieve the privacy requirements of HIPAA compliance with strict physical and network security and audited change logs.
Online Tech’s infrastructure design incorporates fully redundant power, network, and backup into a network of high availability data centers, located over 50 miles apart on separate power grids, to provide uninterruptible power and network connection with no single point of failure.
“Selecting Online Tech’s SAS 70 Type II and SSAE 16 audited data centers has helped us obtain new contracts,” McCreadie said. “All of our hospital and college clients go through a security checklist before purchasing a software application. Partnering with a SAS 70 certified data center has made the sales negotiation process go much smoother.”
