Theron's Blog: Please, No Ladies Calling Football
Maybe this is sexist to some people, but I do not think it is. On Saturday my wife and I were watching the Michigan State/ Iowa game on the 4 letter network. After about six minutes into the game my wife turns around from the computer and says to me "why in the hell is a woman calling this game?" I agreed with her, Beth Mowins was calling the game along with Mike Bellotti. This is not a slam at women and their ability to do any job a man can do.
This is more about a feeling I get when I hear a women calling play by play for football. It just seems out of place. Now I understand there are some great female play-by-play announcers, but let them call other sports, just not football. I would rather have a subpar male calling a game. I just can't shake the awkwardness I feel when I hear a female calling a football game. I am sure there are many guys out there who agree with me, and maybe some women. Let me know what you think.
