Michigan State Signs Indiana Guard Gary Harris

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo says the program's recruiting class has gone from very good to possibly elite thanks to Gary Harris.

The highly touted guard signed with the Spartans on Friday. He highlights a class that already included guard Drew Valentine along with forwards Matt Costello and Kenny Kaminski.

Izzo compares Harris athletically to former Michigan State standout Shannon Brown, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Harris from Fishers, Ind., is regarded as one of the top shooting guards in the country. He averaged 18.5 points, five rebounds and three assists last year as a junior at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
