DMC Surgery Hospital Wins Platinum eHealthcare Leadership Award: Detroit Medical Center Surgery Hospital has won a platinum eHealthcare Leadership award (the highest honor), in the Best Web 2.0 category, for its Web site's unique use of interactive tools, animations and videos for exploring common orthopaedic injuries, conditions and treatments. Having won gold awards in 2008 and 2010, this is the first platinum award for the DMC. The winners were recognized at the 15th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference in Orlando, Florida on Nov. 9. Launched in May 2010, the Web site features avatars (a graphical image) in which users select the best representation depending on age groups, gender, and activity level as well as a "what's wrong?" interactive tool that explores specific common orthopaedic injuries, conditions, and treatments by body part. Winners of platinum, gold, silver, and distinction awards represented 17 industry classifications, from hospitals and health systems to pharmaceutical firms and online health companies.  Selected from nearly 1,200 entries, over 300 awards were given in 13 different categories: Best Mobile Communications, Best Patient Access and Convenience, Best Site Design, Best Health/Healthcare Content, Best Interactive, Best Care/Disease Management, Best e-Business, Best Doctor Directory, Best Web 2.0, Best Integrated Marketing Campaign, Best Overall Internet Site, Best Intranet, and eHealth Organizational Commitment.
