Neil Diamond To Visit DTE For First Time in 22 Years

(CBS Detroit) -  Everywhere around the world, they're coming to America... Today, today, today... Well, specifically he's coming to metro Detroit, and it doesn't happen until this summer, but you get the picture.

Musical icon Neil Diamond, a 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and 2011 Kennedy Center honoree, will take his greatest hits on the road on a much-anticipated North American tour kicking off in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on June 1, 2012, and closing in Las Vegas on Sept. 1, 2012

As part of the tour, he will return July 3, 2012, to the DTE Energy Music Theater in metro Detroit for his first visit at the venue since a 1986 appearance at the then-Pine Knob. Tickets will go on sale December 5 on Ticketmaster.

To underscore the tour, Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings recently announced that Diamond will release "The Very Best of Neil Diamond -- The Original Studio Recordings" on December 6.

The album will feature 23 of the most popular hits and signature tracks from America's quintessential singer-songwriter.  This is the first Neil Diamond collection to draw from the artist's complete studio discography and includes tracks such as "Forever In Blue Jeans," "Cherry, Cherry," "Sweet Caroline," "I'm A Believer," "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon, " "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," "Red, Red Wine," "America" and many more.

VIP packages will be available for the Detroit visit through VIP Nation, including premium seats, exclusive merchandise and more. For more information, visit www.VIPNation.com.
