Dexter Research Adds Online Store, Created by Saline's DesignHub

DEXTER -- Dexter Research Inc., the provider of infrared thermopile detectors for science and industry, has made buying from them easier for customers by adding an online store to its Web site, www.dexterresearch.com.

DesignHub Inc., the original designer and developer of the Dexter Research website, created the online store. DesignHub is a creative services and marketing firm whose headquarters are in Saline.

More than 30 of Dexter Research's best-selling detectors are now available in the store for online purchase via credit card. Customers can choose from detectors in seven application categories: temperature, security/detection, laser power/targeting, gas analysis, fire suppression/detection, imaging, and specialty items. The store's ordering, shopping cart, checkout, and shipping forms make it easy for customers to buy online.

"Our online store adds convenience for customers -- especially our long-time customers who often place repeat orders for popular products," said Kurt Hochrein, vice president of sales and marketing for Dexter Research.  "Customers won't have to pick up the phone every time they need to place an order. Purchasing will be faster and more accurate."

Elsewhere on the Dexter Research site, customers can use the "Product Finder" to match detectors to applications and sort them by sensor characteristics including thermopile type (thin film or silicon), signal-to-noise ration, active area size, price, package type, and number of channels. Detailed specifications for all detectors are provided. Customers can compare features of the full product line in the "Product Comparison Guide" matrix.

A special section of the site describes the Dexter Research IR Detect and Manage System, an integrated environmental control system enabling users to precisely control the growing temperatures for all plants in a commercial greenhouse.

The Dexter site relates a brief company history, telling of its pioneering work in infrared thermopile detectors. Site visitors can learn about Dexter Research's engineering services and successful applications of its sensors in scientific and industrial fields. Visitors can also download technical documents and get updates on latest company news.

Dexter Research has produced infrared thermopile detectors since 1977. Its products include high-quality, high-output Bismuth-Antimony thin film and silicon-based infrared-sensing detectors. They detect temperature change in precise 0.1 degree C increments.

Dexter Research offers standard detectors in high volumes and customizes detectors for specific needs. Integrated modules serve as complete sensing subsystems. Customers in scientific research, automotive, aerospace, home appliances, security systems, medical equipment, and horticulture now rely on Dexter Research's detectors.
