Matt Dery's Daily Update 11-28-11

The worst kept secret in college sports will be unleashed today at 5:15 p.m. -- that is when Ohio State will officially announce Urban Meyer as its next head football coach. Meyer's agent confirmed he's taking the job. Reports out of Columbus say interim coach Luke Fickell will remain on the staff.

It's the fourth time this season Denard Robinson has been named co-offensive player of the week in the Big Ten. The Michigan QB accounted for five touchdowns on Saturday in the win over OSU; He shares the honor with Wisconsin RB Monte Ball.

U of M coach Brady Hoke said today he believes his team is deserving of a BCS Bowl bid, adding that a 10 win team out of the Big Ten speaks for itself.

NFL on NBC analyst Tony Dungy is blaming the Lions organization and coaches for Ndamukong Suh's shortcomings. Dungy told a national radio show the coaching staff could have stopped this and they should have gotten Suh under control on the field. The Lions defensive tackle is expected to receive a one or two game suspension from the league this week.

The Lions will scout the Saints tonight, who are playing the Giants on Monday Night Football.

Michigan's Tim Hardaway was named the Big Ten Basketball Player of the week, while his U of M teammate Trey Burke was tabbed as freshman of the week.
