Postal Worker Finds Dead Body In Inkster

INKSTER (WWJ) - Police say a mail carrier on his daily rounds finds a man's body lying in front of a vacant home in Inkster, and now police are now trying to determine what caused the man's death.

Inkster Police Lt. Jeff Smith told WWJ's Mike Campbell they're working on what could be a possible murder case but, so far, investigators don't think foul play was involved.

Smith said there were no signs of trauma, and the man, who was in his 50s, may have died of natural causes.

"We always treat any death as a homicide until proven otherwise," said Smith. "I can tell you from what we've gathered on the scene so far, it appears that it's not going to be a homicide. However ... we're waiting for the Medical Examiner's office."

Smith said the deceased has been identified, but police will not release his name until his family has been notified.
