MedHub Leverages HIPAA Compliant Colocation from Online Tech
ANN ARBOR — MedHub Inc., a health care software company providing services to large academic teaching hospitals, has partnered with Online Tech for colocation that’s compliant with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, better known as HIPAA.
Online Tech’s Michigan data centers operate under SSAE 16, SOC, & HIPAA compliance, allowing clients to meet HIPAA hosting requirements.
“Partnering with Online Tech lets us utilize their technical expertise and experience operating HIPAA compliant data centers,” says Peter Orr, MedHub President. “We can focus on servicing our customers and not using our resources to manage a HIPAA compliant data center.”
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, any company that interacts with sensitive patient information or health records must be HIPAA compliant. A HIPAA audit by an independent Certified HIPAA Practitioner (CHP) and Certified HIPAA Security Specialist (CHSS) found Online Tech to be 100 percent compliant across all 54 HIPAA citations and 136 audited components.
Online Tech has helped MedHub achieve the privacy, security, and availability requirements of HIPAA compliance with strict physical and network security and audited change logs. A HIPAA compliant data center provides all the required physical, environmental, network and infrastructure security needed to meet the requirements set out in the HITECH Act to ensure patient information is protected.
Online Tech’s infrastructure design incorporates fully redundant power, network, and backup into a network of high availability data centers, located over 50 miles apart, to provide uninterruptible power and network connectivity with no single point of failure.
MedHub also uses Online Tech’s OTPortal, a Web-based client portal that provides a single, cohesive interface for remote management, to monitor their colocated servers along with their own monitoring systems and front end. Provided to every colocation, managed server, and cloud client at no additional cost, OTPortal’s feature-rich dashboard delivers self-service, on-demand access to server monitoring, management, resource upgrades, and around-the-clock customer support.
Through its SAS 70 and SSAE 16 data centers, Online Tech delivers a range of high availability hosting including Michigan colocation, managed dedicated servers, private cloud hosting, and disaster recovery.
