Volunteers Of America Hosting Sports Fundraiser Monday
It’s that time of year again, when Volunteers of America runs its outstanding Adopt A Family program to make sure the less fortunate have a good holiday season.
And the organization’s big annual fundraiser is right around the corner. “Athletes Adopting Families” will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at the Reserve at Big Rock in Birmingham.
The event features an elegant evening of dinner, dancing and networking supported by local businesses such as O’Brien Construction Co., Stonebridge Financial Partners, Lucido Jewelry, LS Brinker, Fathead, Quicken Loans, Comerica Bank and many others.
Elite current or former athletes scheduled to appear include Louis Delmas, Stephen Tolloch, Herman Moore and Lomas Brown of the Detroit Lions; Charlie Villanueva, Vernon Macklin, Rick Mahorn and Jalen Rose of the Detroit Pistons; and University of Michigan Fab Five alumnus Jimmy King.
All funds go toward the Volunteers of America Michigan Adopt A Family program. The organization hopes to serve more than 4,000 families this year with the help of the community and this fundraiser.
Tickets are $100 each and on sale at www.voami.org or by calling (248) 376-8011.
