Snowmobile Accident Puts Father & Daughter In Hospital

SPRINGFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A father and daughter are in the hospital after an SkiDoo snowmobile accident that happened at their Springfield Township home on Saturday.

Police are investigating the accident in which Daniel Haines, 40, was teaching his 15-year-old daughter to ride a snowmobile.

Both father and daughter were on the snowmobile at the time - apparently the young girl panicked and pressed the throttle all the way open - sending both through and under a six foot cyclone fence and into a small stand of trees.

Both were transported to Genesis Hospital in Grand Blanc for treatment of serious head and facial injuries.

Police say that alcohol was not a factor in the accident - which remains under investigation.
