DETROIT (AP) — A parade and rally celebrating Cass Technical High School’s state Division 1 football championship is set for downtown Detroit.

The parade is to feature the football team, cheer team, marching band, alumni and parents. It starts at 1 p.m. Monday at Grand Circus Park, then travels south along Woodward Avenue.

A rally will follow.

The district says Cass Tech is the first Detroit public school to win the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 title. Cass Tech defeated Detroit Catholic Central 49-13 Nov. 26 at Ford Field to finish the season at 11-3.

Detroit King High School won the state Division 2 title in 2007.
