Pistons Hire Director Of Basketball Operation

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Pistons have hired Ken Catanella as director of basketball operations.

Catanella joins the Pistons after working with the NBA’s league office. The team says he’ll direct the Pistons’ analytics efforts and be their salary cap specialist.

Joe Dumars is Detroit’s president of basketball operations.

Before joining the league office, Catanella worked for the New Jersey Nets from 2006-08, managing the Nets’ analytics and helping create their statistical scouting systems.

Catanella played college basketball at Amherst College and professionally in the German League.
