The Tigers are reportedly among a handful of teams in trade talks with the Oakland A’s 16 game winner Gio Gonzalez. Reports say the A’s want high-end prospects for the left hander. The Detroit News reported that Oakland wanted Nick Castellanos, the third base prospect in the deal, and it appears the Tigers don’t want to include him.

The banged-up Lions need a win Sunday over 2-10 Minnesota. The team was practicing today in Allen Park and on the field without Louis Delmas, Nick Fairley, Kevin Smith and Chris Houston. Vikings defensive end Jared Allen said today that he and his teammates want nothing more than to knock off the Lions Sunday and ruin their playoff chances.

Pistons open training camp is in two days, among the players working out today at the practice facility are Greg Monroe, Ben Gordon and restricted free agent Jonas Jerebko. Austin Daye will arrive in town today and says he’ll work out tonight.
