Gov. Snyder Orders Flags Lowered For Slain Marine

WAYNE (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder has ordered flags lowered Monday for Marine Staff Sgt. Vincent Bell, who was killed in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan.
The 28-year-old from the Detroit suburb of Wayne was on foot patrol in Helmand province Nov. 30 when he was hit by the blast of an improvised explosive device.

Bell's funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at Renaissance Unity Church in Warren. A wake is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at United Memorial Funeral Home in Mount Clemens.
Bell joined the Marines in 2001 and was based at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He was part of the 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

The military says Bell was on his second combat deployment, after also serving in the Iraq war.
