Village of Milford Installs 6 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

MILFORD -- Electric vehicle owners now have more incentive to shop and dine in downtown Milford. It's now possible to charge electric vehicles for free while enjoying the amenities the Village has to offer.

Six new charging stations have been installed in the East and West public parking lots, located in the center of the thriving downtown district.

The Village of Milford Parking Authority secured the charging stations through Coulomb Technologies ChargePoint Network, a provider of comprehensive electric vehicle public charging infrastructure.

Funding for the six ChargePoint charging stations was provided through the United States Department of Energy, as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The charging stations were installed by Waterford Township-based ChargeNow.

The ChargePoint Network provides Milford visitors 24/7 driver assistance, station locations, station availability, reservation capability and trip mapping, from anywhere there is an Internet connection at http://www.mychargepoint.net. Additionally, the ChargePoint Network can be downloaded to your iPhone, Blackberry or Android.

Milford's charging stations provide 7.2-kilowatt (208 to 240 volts at 30 amps) Level II charging and are available for up to two hours per day. Charging is delivered via a standard SAE J1772 connector and 18-foot cable. Due to their placement between two parking spots, the six charging stations have the capacity to charge up to 12 electric vehicles.
