Holman Leads Detroit Past Western Michigan 92-81

DETROIT (AP) — Eli Holman scored 21 points and Chase Simon 20 to pace Detroit to a 92-81 victory over Western Michigan on Thursday night.

Ray McCallum had 14 points and six assists for the Titans (5-6), who won their second in a row. Jason Calliste added 12 points.

The Broncos (1-7) got 33 points from Mike Douglas, including 13 of 14 free throws. Demetrius Ward scored 19, Nate Hutcheson 11 and Flenard Whitfield 10.

The Titans, who shot 53.2 percent (33 of 62), used an 18-2 run to forge a 36-12 lead with 8:54 left in the first half.

Detroit reached 50 points in less than 16 minutes when Holman hit a jumper for a 50-26 lead with 4:08 to go in the first half. The Titans led 61-39 at the break.

Western Michigan scored the first seven points of the second half but got no closer than nine after that.
