Jeff Riger: Gunther Cunningham Always Has A Lot To Say!

There are certain coaches and athletes that the media looks forward to talking to every chance they get because they get good stuff. There are certain coaches and athletes that the media looks forward to talking to every chance they get because they get good stuff. There is nothing more boring than the same old sports cliché’s in stories and videos, so when guys like Dom Raiola, Corey Williams, and even Nate Burleson step to the mic, people listen and writers write in hopes that something out of the ordinary will be said. So on Friday at Lions practice when Gunther Cunningham took time to speak to the media, it took, well about 30 seconds for Gunther to make headlines. I asked Cunningham about Jared Allen, you know the guy that plays for the Vikings and said that if he lived in Detroit he would drown himself in the Detroit River. Yeah, you know the guy I’m talking about! Anyway, Gunther wasted no time ripping on his former player saying things like “he’s not good enough to live here” and that “this is too tough of a town for him.”

Gunther also covered the return of Ndamukong Suh, the fact that his team might be afraid to think they are good enough to be a 7-5 squad and why he is so mad at former coaches that have taken TV jobs. Watch the Gunther Cunningham video below for some of the better stuff from the Defensive Coordinator. It is definitely worth a watch!
