Lowe's Pulls Advertising From "All-American Muslim" Amid Protest Of Show

DEARBORN (WWJ) - It's a show made right here in Dearborn, but TLC's "All-American Muslim" has lost a top advertiser -- Lowe's Home Improvement.

A local organization is telling its constituents to boycott the major hardware store following what they're calling a bad public relations move.

WWJ's Kathryn Larson reports Lowe's pulled their advertisements following complaints and emails from various groups, including at least one conservative Christian organization.

The Florida Family Association writes on its website that TLC's "All-American Muslim" is propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."

Lowe's reportedly told the Florida Family Association that the show doesn't meet their advertising guidelines, and said Lowe's will no longer be advertising on the TLC program.

Spokesman Dawud Walid, of CAIR-MI,  (Council on American Islamic Relations) said his organization is "utterly shocked by Lowe's decision."

"They don't have a backbone as an organization and really how they depend more on the business of bigots than they do on civil and right-minded people and they'll have to suffer the consequences for that," said Walid.

Walid said it is likely his organization will hold some demonstrations and protests in front of area Lowe's in the coming weeks -- but says nothing has been planned as of yet.

WWJ left messages at Lowes and TLC seeking comment.

Lowe's posted an expanded response on Facebook - read here.
