Ben Wallace Set To Be Sentenced Tuesday

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (WWJ) - Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace is expected to be sentenced Tuesday morning in Oakland County on drunk driving and firearms charges. The 37-year-old pleaded guilty last month to the misdemeanor charges.

Wallace was arrested in September in Bloomfield Township after officers observed a Cadillac Escalade being driven erratically. An unloaded pistol was in a backpack in the car. Police say Wallace's blood alcohol level was above Michigan's legal limit. He reportedly faces a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail.

Will Wallace be with his teammates when they practice today? That remains to be seen, but the Detroit Pistons will practice beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday. The Pistons kick off their preseason against Cleveland on Friday. The regular season gets underway Monday, Dec. 26, when the Pistons take on the Indiana Pacers.
