DETROIT (WWJ) – It’s the perfect holiday gift and it comes with a tax deduction.
The Michigan Education Trust (MET) opens its 2012 enrollment period on Thursday, just in time for holiday gift giving.
The pre-paid tuition program allows individuals and organizations to pre-purchase credits toward future tuition at any of the state’s universities and public colleges by locking in today’s tuition rates.
Those who purchase the plans receive a state income tax deduction for the total contract price, including enrollment fees. The enrollment period runs through August 31, 2012.
MET started in 1988 and has sold more than 96,000 contracts.
