Monroe Man Busted With Thousands Of Child Porn Pics

DETROIT (WWJ) – The Wayne County Sheriff says one of the largest online child porn operations in the country has been busted.

Sheriff Benny Napoleon says 24-year-old Tavis Greene of Monroe was allegedly the largest and most active online child porn operator, linked to thousands of iligal images.

The investigation that led to his arrest started in Colorado back in April when detectives gained access to a password protected folder they say belonged to Greene.

Greene was arrested last week at the home of a friend in Plymouth Township where deputies seized a computer they say contained thousands of child porn images, some of the kids appearing to be as young as 10.

“Tracking this individual was our highest priority because the next level of offense is physically abusing a child and we can’t let that happen,” said Napoleon, in a statement. “Thanks to the expansive network of web investigators we’re putting these individuals on notice — you can’t hide behind technology.  We will find you.”

Napolean said Green’s arrest is a great example of  law enforcement agencies working together across jurisdictions.

Greene posted a $100,000 cash bond and is expected back in 35th District Court next Monday.

Hearing delayed in child porn case
A Monroe man facing computer-related child pornography charges remains free on bond after agreeing Monday in 35th District Court to postpone his preliminary hearing in the case.
    J. Henry Lievens, the attorney for suspect Tavis Greene, said the adjournment was to allow the defense time for evidence discovery. Judge Ron Lowe rescheduled the hearing for Thursday, Dec. 29, in district court.
