Volunteers Search For Missing 13-Year-Old Girl

DETROIT (WWJ) - Volunteers gathered Thursday to search for a missing teen who ran away from a shelter for abused and neglected girls.

Kaytia Town, 13, disappeared from the Elizabeth Davenport Shelter on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Adam Heaphy with 911teen.org, which is organizing the search.

"We're actually going to start where she was last seen last week, when she ran away last week, which was Fred's Party Store on Charlevoix, about five or six streets away," said Heaphy. "I think we're going to end up going door-to-door, knocking on the door, and we're just going to search the abandoned houses."

This is the second time Town has gone missing, but the first time she was found in a matter of hours.

Her father said she is bi-polar and considered emotionally impaired.

Kaytia is 5'2" and weighs about 120 pounds. She has blonde hair and hazel eyes. Anyone who has seen her is asked to call Detroit Police.
