Police Search For One Of Three Suspects In Roller Rink Shooting

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Waterford Township are searching for who they think is one of the three gunmen who opened fire at a roller-skating rink during a private holiday party.

Investigators now believe one of the shooting suspects is Robert Lee German, an 18-year-old from Pontiac.

German is considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend him. If you have any information on his whereabouts, immediately contact the Waterford Police Department at 248-618-7550 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

The shooting took place early Friday morning at the Rolladium Skating Center in Waterford Township, about 25 miles northwest of Detroit, when three gunmen came in the exit doors as people were leaving and started shooting. Nearly 300 people were inside the rink.

In all, five party-goers were stuck; a 20-year-old White Lake woman, a 20-year old Pontiac man and woman, a 21-year-old Pontiac man and a 23-year-old Pontiac woman. All five victims are in good condition and are expected to fully recover.

The rink was being used for a private event, billed as an 18 and up pre-Christmas skating party. The party's promoters provided security detail during the event.

Although the rink has a surveillance system, rink co-owner Kurt Anselmi told WWJ he's not sure the cameras captured everything.

"They passed one camera and there are good views of their faces and their clothing. But at the point in time that the shooting occurred, we can't see them. They go off camera, they shoot, it all takes place within a matter of seconds," said Anselmi.

So far, no arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.
