First Baby Of New Year Greets Metro Detroit At 12:02 A.M.

DETROIT (WWJ) - Just minutes after midnight -12:02 a.m. was the exact time - metro Detroit's first New Year's baby was born. The baby, Keveon James Butler is said to be 7 pounds, 3 ounces - and 20 inches long.

The fifth bundle of joy for 33-year-old Michelle Hargitt is said be doing well after delivering the first baby of the new year.

Hargitt tells WWJ the little guy is handsome: "He has a head full of hair ... and he is gorgeous."

Hargitt said she was shocked and amazed that her 10 day overdue baby was a first at Sinai Grace in the new year.

Hargitt delivered at Sinai Grace hospital after her mom  made a New Year's Eve dinner of lucky collard greens and black-eyed peas.  Keveon was overdue but shortly after eating -- Hargitt's water broke.

She arrived at the hospital -- and at 12:02 Sunday morning -- Keveon came into the world.

Keveon is Hargitt's fifth -- and she says final baby.
